TransCareNet explores how people who live in one country care for their ageing parents who remain in another. Focusing on the Nordic and Baltic regions, the project looks at the real-life challenges migrant families face when providing care across borders—such as distance, costs, emotional strain, and navigating different welfare systems. By studying diverse groups, including Nordic, Baltic, and Ukrainian migrants, the project aims to better understand how families organize care and what kind of support they need. The findings will help inform policies and services to better support transnational families and improve elderly care across Europe.
